Diabetes and Prediabetes Education Group Sessions
My Numbers & Me
Have you recently been told you have diabetes or prediabetes?
Are you finding it difficult to manage your blood glucose levels?
Would you like to feel more energetic, healthier, and in control of your condition?
You’re not alone — and support is available.
Our Diabetes and Prediabetes Group Sessions are designed to help you understand your condition and learn practical, realistic ways to improve your health.
These sessions are run by the diabetes doctors and nurses at Aspen Medical Practice in a friendly, relaxed group setting (maximum 12 people) at the Aspen Centre meeting room (second floor). You’re welcome to ask questions, share experiences, or simply listen — whatever feels comfortable for you.
The course includes two sessions, each lasting 1½ hours, offered at different times during the week, including afternoon and early evening options.
Session A — Understanding Insulin Resistance
In this session, we’ll help you understand:
- What your diagnosis means
- How blood glucose works in your body
- What your target numbers are and why they matter
- How to use a glucometer to learn how different foods affect you
- Which foods are more likely to raise blood glucose
Most importantly, we focus on hope. For many people, type 2 diabetes and prediabetes can be improved — and sometimes put into remission — through lifestyle changes.
Session B — Putting Knowledge into Practice
In the second session, we’ll build on what you’ve learned.
We’ll cover:
- Reviewing your blood glucose journal together
- Practical food strategies to help reduce glucose spikes
- Understanding your blood test results and metabolic health
- The four pillars of health:
- Food
- Movement
- Sleep
- Stress
- Whether intermittent fasting might be appropriate for you
- Next steps and ongoing support
You’ll begin to see how food, activity, sleep, and stress all affect blood glucose levels, and how small changes can make a meaningful difference.
One of the most powerful things you’ll learn is that blood glucose responses are personal — the same food can affect people differently. By monitoring your levels, you can discover what works best for your body.
Our Goal
Our goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and in control of your health by understanding how your body responds to lifestyle choices.
We encourage you to bring a partner, family member, or friend who supports you — lifestyle changes are often easier together.

If you’d like to learn how to personalise your diet and lifestyle to improve your metabolic health, we’d love to see you at these group sessions.
